  (See update after initial review below) Our overall process with ordering and design was fine. Specialty had a great selection of cabinets, styles, and countertops as well as other sinks and hardware. Scott also did a great job for us marking out the cabinets and all lights after we demolished our old kitchen. Things fell apart, however, at installation. We are performing a large amount of remodeling at home so we have experienced many contractors/installers coming to our house (dry wall, painting, framing, flooring, etc.). All of these installers were great. They obviously took pride in their job. The Specialty Kitchen installers, however, seemed to care less about their work or their product. They installed doors and drawers off center. They also installed an island cabinet which was obviously broken (frame was bowed out and the hardware/railings could not attach to it properly. When we noticed it and brought it up, the installer stated "Yeah, we saw that it was broken. We will have to order you a new one." If they knew it was broken, why did you even install it! It was very apparent that they wanted us not to notice these things. To top things off, they misordered some trim and hardware so we have an unfinished kitchen now for one month. It will be another two weeks minimum for them to get the parts because they took two weeks to order them after they knew about it. Unlike the other contractors, Specialty did not clean up after themselves. The cabinets and drawers are full of sawdust and other residual material. They may have won design awards but that has nothing to do with installation. Hopefully they just need to better train their crews. They promise to inspect work during and after installation. The "during" part has been suspect. We will see about after installation. They also state that they follow up after installation to ensure complete satisfaction. We will see. The jury is still out and I am still out of a completed kitchen for possibly 2 months. I will provide updates once this job is complete. Hopefully it will be much better. UPDATE: April 2008 It took over 4 months to get things resolved but I guess the good news is that we finally have our dream kitchen. They did replace the island but a drawer on the island was warped so they had to order a replacement. The replacement that they ordered was the wrong color match so they had to re-order it. I think you get the picture. Overall, I would not recommend this company. Yes, they did finally resolve all issues, but the process to get there was very painful. They did have good prices and a good selection, but considering how much a new kitchen costs, I would not like anyone to go through the hassle we did.

  I did a full master bath redesign, plus some updates in a guest bath and the kitchen. SKI made it a pleasure every step of the way! This team is incredibly detail oriented, and they really go out of their way to make the actual construction work as painless as possible. Plus, with their online customer portal, it’s very easy to send messages, track payments, and view a detailed schedule of who will be in your house and when. I *love* my new bathrooms and the kitchen updates!!!! I wouldn’t consider anyone else for any future work!
